Son La is full of potential for growing industrial and fruit plants like sugar cane, rubber trees, orange, pomelo, and coffee trees.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thao living in Hua La Commune, Son La City, has been named "The Coffee Witch" by the local farmers for his enormous contribution to Son La's coffee business.

Mr. Xuan Thao is given this title because he has assisted in the transformation of coffee plants planted in Son La's desolate areas into "golden trees." Ca Phe Bich Thao Son La Coffee Farm cultivates and produces organic green coffee beans with a solid market for exporting to international buyers.

Anyone visiting Son La City has heard of the Ca Phe Bich Thao Son La cooperative, the Director of which is Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thao. This cooperative with 10ha of coffee plantation soil was founded in 2017 and currently has 11 members.

Mr. Xuan Thao's cooperative's coffee production process is distinguished by the farmers' usage of organic cultivation and production, which excludes the use of synthetic fertilizers and plant protection drugs.

Mr. Xuan Thao and his team must go through several tests, research, and trials to achieve their current success.

Ca Phe Bich Thao Son La cooperative has invested in coffee-processing equipment such as roaster machines, coffee grading machines based on the color of green coffee beans, and coffee tree conservatories to improve product quality and value to meet consumer needs.

In the meantime, the cooperative has actively implemented science and technology in the manufacturing process, as well as quality management. As a result, the farm's plantation scale has been recognized as adhering to VietGAP (Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices) standards.

During the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development's national coffee development program in 2019, the cooperative acquired the Eakmat Coffee technological transfer from the Western Highlands Agro-Forestry Scientific and Technical Institute.

The institute encouraged the farm to cultivate innovative coffee kinds (THA1, N6, N7, and N9). These coffee varieties offer excellent productivity and quality, making them ideal for export to the global market.
